ARTIST STATEMENT
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Shilo de Armas is a multidisciplinary artist who presents elements of the human form; both physical and spiritual, throughout various series of artworks. Beginning as an abstract painter, she has encapsulated human nature by bringing her work to life through her Body Paint Series (c.2015). Further elaborating on her idea of abstracting the human form, she dives into the third dimension by specializing in large scale murals, sculptures, and commercial interior design. By inviting the audience to become part of the installation; viewers can not only witness the work, but also partake in the immersive experience.
Shilo believes that God, the original Creator, resides within everyone, as we are made in His image. Therefore, she attempts to convey that message through his greatest creation; each of us. Her longterm goals lie in the nonprofit sector, further integrating the love for humanity that shows throughout her work. Completing this work in series allows her to deeper explore each aspect of human and God alike.
